About the Initiative
The Civilization Builders Manifesto addresses one of the most critical questions of our time: How do we ensure that AI agents enhance human flourishing rather than undermining it?
Written by a collective of innovators from Central Europe—spanning mathematics, AI, education, policy, and philosophy—the manifesto argues that the agentic era is not primarily a technological revolution, but an educational and civilizational one.
The manifesto proposes three pillars:
- Part I — The New Power: Understanding how agents complete thought, externalize cognition, and shift the bottleneck from capability to governance
- Part II — The Anchors: The cultural, moral, and epistemic foundations needed to steer agentic power responsibly
- Part III — The Builders: A new model of education that trains people to convert reality into solvable structure and structure into legitimate improvement
The initiative includes a comprehensive European Action Plan with concrete steps for institutions, educators, policymakers, and citizens.
Key Messages
1. When output becomes cheap, discernment becomes scarce. The agentic era shifts the bottleneck from "can we do it?" to "what should be done, and why?"
2. Agents amplify what is already present. They don't make us good, wise, or truthful—they amplify whatever orientation we bring. This makes values, epistemic discipline, and democratic maturity survival infrastructure.
3. Europe's advantage is depth, not speed. While others compete on scale and velocity, Europe can lead through civilizational memory, human-centric values, and institutional sophistication.
4. Education must transform. We must shift from learning information to learning governance of power—from solving school exercises to solving fragments of reality.
5. This is urgent. AI capabilities are advancing rapidly. Without proper grounding, we risk producing a future that is fast, fluent, and hollow—a world of cheap persuasion, institutional fragility, and democratic decay.
